Christie grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from TCA, where she met her husband of over 30 years. Together, they have raised four children, including the unique journey of adoptive parenting. With three adult children and one teenager, Christie understands firsthand the complexity and beauty of family life.
Christie earned her Bachelor of Arts from The American University in Washington, D.C., and later attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she received her Secondary Teacher’s Certificate and taught high school English at Highland Park High School. She eventually returned to school to pursue her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Amberton University, leading to her work as a therapist.
Over the years, Christie has built extensive experience helping individuals, couples, and families across a variety of settings. In addition to her clinical work, she has served as a family coach, emotional sobriety coach, crisis intervention team leader, and workshop developer. She has led recovery and marriage support groups, worked closely with adoptive families, and developed programs supporting low-income mothers. She also has significant experience in outpatient addiction treatment, providing individual, group, and family counseling for men navigating addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges, as well as working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in private practice settings.
Christie specializes in helping individuals struggling with addiction and compulsive behaviors rooted in unresolved trauma. Her approach is integrative, direct, and non-judgmental.
In addition to individual work, Christie supports couples and families navigating communication challenges, codependency, and the impact of addiction, as well as parents facing high-conflict dynamics or behavioral struggles with their children. Her background in adoption and early training with Dr. Karyn Purvis informs her attachment-based, practical approach to helping families find stability and connection.
Christie lives in Dallas with her husband and family. Outside of her work, she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time outdoors, and shares life with two dogs who would insist they are the real therapists in the family.
