Grace Porterfield is from St. Louis, Missouri and moved down to Fort Worth, Texas 7 years ago to pursue her education and build a career. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Fitness and her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Christian University.
Grace was drawn to the mental health and substance use field after witnessing the impact that addiction and unhealthy relationships with substances can have on individuals and families. Combined with her own experiences navigating mental health challenges as a teen and young adult, these experiences inspired her to pursue a career focused on helping others find healing, growth, and lasting change.
Her clinical experience includes working with college students through TCU Substance Use and Recovery Services, where she supported clients seeking to change their relationships with alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, and other substances. There, she led the Collegiate Recovery Community in her role as the Graduate Assistant, which further solidified her interest in working with adolescents and young adults. She also worked with the Fort Worth ISD Family Resource Center, providing counseling services to children and adolescents experiencing family conflict, peer relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and the effects of substance use within the family system.
Grace uses a collaborative, strengths-based approach and tailors her therapeutic methods to each client’s individual needs. She believes meaningful change happens within a safe, open-minded, and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, where clients feel accepted, understood, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges and pursue their goals.
Grace currently lives in Fort Worth and loves coming home to her best friend (her dog), Louie. Outside of work, she enjoys reading mystery novels, trying new restaurants, watching movies and reality TV, and practicing Pilates.
